The evolution of communication methods- Then and now!
One of the basic human needs are to communicate with others. Babies cry because that is the only way for them to communicate with their parents. When they cry they tell their parents that something is wrong or that they need something from them. This can become a big problem if the parent can't figure out why the baby is crying. We have all been there. Babies cry and we have no idea why they cry. We check nappies, we check temperature, we try to feed them...but because they can't tell us what exactly is wrong it makes it difficult to figure out exactly what they want.
One of the oldest forms of communication is language. With language we use words that actually explains something so that others can understand you, seemingly we speak the same language. These days with google translate it has become easier for us to understand a little bit more of each other because we can actually translate written posts to see what the other person is saying.
Often there is a communication gap if people misunderstand you, and it is even worse when you don't specifically know how to express yourself in the right words, but the better the communication the better we understand each other. It is often needed that different countries communicate with each other to prevent chaos. There are luckily many translators available these days that helps with the communication and this can literally prevent wars! LOL!
After writing was developed it made it much easier for people to communicate with each other over long distances. It was easy to write a letter and then send it to someone far way. The only problem was that it took weeks or even months to reach a destination. New news was old news by the time it actually reached its destination.
While we today have instant messages, Whats-app and even email, it is hard to even imagine a time when these things were not available.
Before the development of the post office, messengers were used to deliver letters to their destination either by foot or on a horse. The the first postal carriage made life so much easier and post was delivered faster.
There were many robberies on the postal carriages as this was also a way to send money to others that lived far away. Later on the carriages were replaced by trains and then aeroplanes etc.
One of the most important inventions later on was the telephone. All of a sudden people were able to communicate directly via telephone conversations.
Fortunately we don't have to walk around with such phones today and if we look at the development of the phone and cellphone over the years it has been an amazing journey.
The radio was invented and now everyone could listen to the news from all over the world by just flipping a switch.
Later on the television changed everybody's lives and it is extremely hard to think of a world without the television. Technology is advancing at such a rapid rate that it is hard to keep up with all the changes.
