Finally: Some 2018 flagship smartphones will have under-the-screen fingerprint scanner!
The large touchpad and fingerprint reader producing company Synaptics has officially announced that the mass production of the fingerprint reader that can be placed under the display has begun. The sensor itself, called Clear ID, is a family of FS9500 series, an improved version of under-the-screen FS9100 fingerprint reader family demonstrated last year.
The new technology is expected to work in smartphones just like the ordinary fingerprint readers do. The speed and accuracy compared to the latter are still unknown: you will have to wait until the first phones with this tech show up in the 2018.

As for the phones, Synaptics announced that one of the five leading smartphone producing companies has made a deal with Synaptics. This means that we can expect FS9500 Clear ID to be installed in next year smartphones of either Apple (unlikely), Samsung, Huawei, BBK (Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus) or Xiaomi. Xiaomi is most likely to be the company that ordered the sensor, considering its love of the breakthrough tech, which could be clearly seen in the smartphones like Mi Mix.
