Well basically it means, my first computer growing up was from the 1980s. There were 286s, 386s, 486s and pentiums or 586s. So pc computers came with a central micro chip, which mostly determined its speed. Now a days there are GPUs (graphic card) in addition to these CPUs, but most people do not even care any more what speed you have. Windows 95 ran well on 486 and above.
