After Alibaba, Amazon will land in Vietnam

 Amazon has launched a two-step strategy to penetrate the Vietnamese market. Earlier, Alibaba's billionaire Jack Ma regarded Vietnam as an important market. E-commerce in the country is "hot" than ever.

Amazon's two-step strategy

Nguyen Thanh Hung, chairman of the Vietnam E-commerce Association, said the association had a meeting with representatives of the Amazon group last week. Accordingly, Vietnam is a market that has received the attention of Amazon. The representative of Amazon also shared two strategic steps when operating in Vietnam.

"Amazon's strategy consists of two steps: First, they want to export goods across borders; Secondly, they want to import goods from Vietnam. Consumers want to buy on Amazon, but actually Amazon is interested in the opposite. They want to support Vietnamese small and medium enterprises to export on Amazon, "said Nguyen Thanh Hung.

Nguyen Thanh Hung said that the Amazon to penetrate the market in Vietnam should be seen in two aspects. Besides importing goods, supporting Vietnamese enterprises to export goods should be considered as "great things" and should be exploited.

Earlier, Chinese billionaire Jack Ma considered Vietnam an important market. Domestic enterprises not worried?

At present, the retail e-commerce sales between companies and consumers (B2C) of Vietnam in 2016 only reached $ 5 billion, accounting for over 3% of total retail sales. Ecommerce businesses must strive to thrive in order to reach even higher numbers.

"Each business must strive to increase that percentage to 5% or 10% of total retail sales. I think the word "rival" is also incorrect. Businesses are doing their best to optimize, so that more people buy more, businesses sell more online. It is true that to a certain extent there will be competition. Abroad somewhere around 10-20%. But Vietnam is far from reaching that threshold, "said Nguyen Thi Hanh.

In the press, Tran Ngoc Thai Son, Tiki CEO is not worried about the world-class competitors in the e-commerce market in Vietnam. According to him, the emergence of huge rivals has led large investment funds in Vietnam to invest and pour capital for e-commerce businesses in the country. Tiki is also developing very well at the time of Alibaba's acquisition of Lazada.
