Althea: A cryptocurrency powered decentralized ISP

I have found this new tech the other day which I believe is really cool and has lots of potential in terms of cheap decentralized internet service and revenue for the average people, as opposed to big ISPs.

I like how they provide value for the node holders and node clients. The intermediaries will get compensated in crypto-coins for forwarding traffic, while the clients will get the cheapest route to a decentralized internet service.

At first this will be a Tier 2 mesh network, build upon the existing structure. But eventually when enough critical mass is achieved it will be able to do much more.

They way it will work will be with routers, or router-like devices. In their video above they use a bunch of Raspberry-Pi for the Clients, the Intermediates and the Server.

I think this has enormous potential and I would love to see it take off, or at least to inspire many others to create something similar and, with time, building on the same base priciples of decentralization and crypto incentives to build something much greater.

I like to think of it as a Steemit for ISPs :)
