The HoloLens To Reduce Operation Time

Your body and face are important to you. Science continues every day to amaze us and to improve at a considerable speed, but you still possess only one body. Many are dissatisfied with their body, their faces ... Complexes that do not work out with the Generation Selfie, and which facilitate the use of cosmetic surgery, more and more democratized.

At a time when another, most of us - if not all - have discussed what we would like to change if we wanted to - and could. The vast majority of people who decide to use the scalpel are motivated by a completely personal choice, or because they have been the victim of an accident. Cosmetic (or plastic) surgery helps thousands of people to live happier each year. But how will the new technologies impact this industry linked to physical and mental well-being?

Dr. Philip J. Miller is a facial aesthetic surgeon based in New York City in the United States. It uses HoloLens (Microsoft's augmented reality goggles) to reduce patient anxiety and produce better results. The first results made Dr. Miller very enthusiastic about the future of such a surgical technology: "By using [HoloLens], it is easier to exploit 3D images than we have created results expected by the patient , To make it a real support during the operation. HoloLens allows me to superimpose the expected results to the patient to compare predictions and realities and adjust my work. " Dr. Miller estimates that the operating time has decreased by 20% ... and that patient satisfaction has increased by 25%. These statistics can not be ignored, when you consider the financial and psychological cost of an operation for an individual, and for the economy.

The 3D morphing software replaces the 2D used until then, because of its better visualization potential. But Dr. Miller knows that it is "still early". "We always try to solve small problems ... but HoloLens very clearly allows me to evaluate the results in real time, on the operating table, and it's much better for patients."

Stem cells, needleless injections, mixed reality and 3D printing offer new ways of thinking about health and humanity. The future of all these technologies is uncertain because of the ethical and economic problems they raise. But health remains an exciting and growing sector, which technology and startups clearly want to improve, bringing new services and new options. The future of cosmetic surgery (and surgery in general), thus lies somewhere between synthetic skin and transhumanism.

With biohackers wanting to increase the human experience to the impression of human hearts in 3D, created in sterile workshops, the future may well be biologically less human ... or we could just be happier men.
