THE POWER OF "you can"

At my final year in the university, I wanted to do something fun and healthy so I joined a gym. Every morning, there is one personal trainer there that works there helping us and working out at the same time i do my workout workout in the morning. I have stories from that experience like when i needed help to always take off my clothes when i started...Lol.
But one of my female lecturer joined around that period too.
She happened to come in the mornings too when i and that personal trainer does his workout.
We watch him every morning do his daily routine with such quiet determination that he makes it all look very easy; although I know all too well how hard he pushes himself. When I am tempted to whine and quit, I watch him push himself to his own limits, and I find myself motivated to work as hard and without complaint.

A couple of weeks later, I was watching him do chin ups. He made them look effortless. Then i saw my lecturer walk up to him and asked him if she could try a chin up. I knew she had never tried before, but he just made it look so easy, I'm sure she could not resist. He eagerly stepped aside and encouraged her to step up to the bar...by this time i was interested. She pulled herself up without thinking...once...then twice. That was all she could do, she had no steam left for more. Knowing this, so he stepped up behind her and pushed her up for a third and fourth "pull." It felt so good watching. She felt strong and smiled.

The next day when I was done my workout, i stayed back to watch the continuation of yesterday's episode. Again, she did two. One of those days she was talking about how she thought it was pathetic that she could only do two, but the trainer came and he said he was impressed with my chin ups. He told us that when they are training firefighters, the men are required to do 5 chin ups, and women are required to do 1 or 2. He explained that most people can't do them at all, and that he was impressed that she could. He further told me that if I practiced every day, I would be doing 5 or 6 in no time. At this point I should probably add that she is in her 50's.

What i learnt from this story was the power of the mind to choose its limits. How the possibilities you see and accept define your realities and determine your own limits. The woman didn't perceive limitations, she didn't know anything about it so she didn't have any reason to doubt so she just did what she could have doubted doing if she had seen someone who lied to her about how she can't do it.

How many times have we decided not to try at all because we were told that we couldn't, that we shouldn't, that we had expectations that were too ambitious? We have sometimes failed before we started because we saw a limitation which in reality isn't even there. Some times you have done somethings you didn't really think about or know so much about and you look back and see that you amazed yourself.

i want you to believe in possibilities, to believe that we can do it and go on to accomplish exactly what we desire to do, because someone told us we can. I've learned how important it is to support others (and ourselves) in our endeavors and to let people know that they can believe in themselves rather than telling them we think that they can't. What a powerful lesson this has taught me thus far.

Its one thing that helped me come up with the Angels on the blockchain idea because we need people who would keep showing us the possibilities we desire to achieve. Thanks to @ehiboss @ogoowinner @surpassinggoogle @surfyogi @ejemai
