Human sacrifice...a painful death as illustrated in "The Lottery"

I am enjoying reading some novels these days and it made me feel good to have this hobby as I can explore the world of books and literature...

<center>One that catch my attention is "The Lottery"</center>

To let you know about it let me do the honor...

"The Lottery" is a masterpiece of Shirley Jackson. It is a terrifying masterpiece with a very creepy story of a tradition of the Small Village of around 300 Villager coming up and gather for the ritual of the lottery.

The first that arrive in the place are the children then comes next are the man and followed by the woman ...they assemble in the place with the black box where their names are written into it. 

It is a June month of every year in preparation of the annual ritual every June 27 of the year....where they draw lots who will be the human sacrifice for that year. It is indeed horrifying but it catches my attention as I read it. 

(more of the story and to read it in full the internet got a copy of it you can read it and find yourself the masterpiece I am telling you. Y6u surely consider it to be)

The story talk more of the process how the lottery be carried off as every one is too scared when rolling the box...They have called of  the winner...and the story never talked about the price...Lottery nowadays got a very dear price if we win...in here they also got a dear price that is to be chosen to be the human sacrifice for the June 27 of the year...

The tradition is They need to sacrifice one every 27th of June for good harvest for the year round. As for me the tradition seems to be absurd why they need to kill a man as to please their gods to give them god harvest. 

The story talk of the name chosen and they stone to death...in the story "tessie" was stoned to death by the Villagers talking about the unfairness of the lottery. No lottery or what It is always unfair to kill a man for the benefit of a person or a group of person...

I can feel the pain of the sacrifice..yeah a real sacrifice and it is for the nonsense belief of to have some good harvest which I myself never wanted to happen to me...

I don't just know the reality of it as it is said that the story is fictional but if it s reality then it would be too brutal to die like this and very frustrating to attend to the gathering

    

Imagine stone to death what a nonsense tradition and I hope it is not a practice of today...It may be fictional but as the internet says,,,but we can never know if that is a reality as the story was published last June 26, 1948. 

The story goes a long way and If I was one of the Villager I would gone running away from the crowd...In the story...winning is not everyone aiming for but losing the lottery.

Such a good story to ponder...
