Like a pivot in a machine and an engine in a car, teamwork is one of the fundamentals that drive the race forward.

Scientists, scholars, and historians have all acknowledged the value of team work time and time again and coined one of the key ingredients for success, but like every other coin, Teamwork has two faces both equally true and equally possible.

No man can walk alone, live alone or be alone. Humans are social beings and mammoth tasks can never be achieved by an individual’s effort. Rome wasn’t built in a day, Rome wasn’t built by one man either. It takes hard work to achieve any kind of goal and just like a lever or a pulley team work reduces the burden and promotes harmony.

The more the easier, a close-knit team working in synchronization is a drop of magic in the midst of a crowd. A different perspective to the same concept removes ignorance and promotes the organization as a whole, no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, a team is not just one man and a group of people with different view things clearly and efficiently. You get to play to your strengths and in your comfort zone, your contribution is appreciated and looked into by everyone.

More importantly, a team gives birth to leaders, the torch-bearers of the organization, they are the radar of the ship and captain of their crew who guide them to success.

Unfortunately for us, everything comes with a drawback and the other side of the coin is as true. When things go wrongs, it is possible that “the blame game” will take over, everyone starts passing responsibility and throwing mud at each other, the situation gets worse when someone slacks off at work while other is pushing the limits, this leads to dip in morale and negativity both of which are rust in a ship, eating away productivity and harmony every second.

Another major problem a team might face is the clash of ideas, everyone has a different perspective and it is a leader’s job to keep the team marching in the same rhythm, ideas clashing are a result of poor leadership and bad culture. Leadership is a sensitive subject, while a good leader will fly above the clouds to avoid rain… A bad leader will hide underground to avoid it, an authoritative demanding leader who doesn’t care for the well-being of his teammates is often termed as a tyrant, someone you will go behind the back to talk about, and the ship sinks.

With all these drawbacks being in a team might seem more bad than good, but drawbacks don’t run a company, a good team with a good and culture will trump any other team with mediocre values.

History is evidence, a great leader and a dedicated group of individuals push boundaries and drive the human kind forward and we should work on the same, goal is to build a great team and avoid the qualities that define a mediocre one.

A performance culture supports teamwork and collaboration and the growth and development of staff. I think the team of this platform is a good example of successful interaction, regardless of some current problems.

I strongly believe that you are right, @tanata. Thanks for commenting
