Introducing Einstein!

Einstein is smart.. but he's not as smart as you thought. His hair is definitely as puffy and white and he likes to ramble on about things which us mere simpletons cannot comprehend. He's rather nutty but instead of letting a skunk out in his classroom to piss off his teacher, he'd rather chase it.

Einstein is my 6 year old Labrador cross Swiss Shepherd. The day I adopted him and his brother, Shakespeare, each of their temperaments were already clear as day to me. Einstein is very defiant and anti the system. He might get that from me. Nevertheless, he is oh so in love with me and has so much love to give. He loves everyone and everything and would lick all my animals and every human to death if I would let him.

He was diagnosed with spondilosis when he was around 2 years old. This is when a weak area in the back, caused either by injury or genetics or any other reason I may be unaware of, results in bones growing under the spine in order to compensate for the weakness. The body should not do this and it actually causes him more pain and stiffness. He lives on painkillers and anti-inflammatories. As if that's not enough, him and his brother also have IBD and some of the meds for his back affect the IBD which needs to be treated with cortisone but makes him more stiff and cannot be given simultaneously with anti-inflammatories. A lot of the time I'm trying to treat whichever of his ailments is worse at any given time and playing around with tablets so that he's not in pain but also doesn't get an upset tummy. Despite all this, Einstein is a very active, happy and boisterous dog.
