TeamPhilippines: New Direction, Gleam of Hope

in #teamphilippines7 years ago (edited)

These are schools, believe it or not!

We've been building @teamphillipines much like looking for a needle in a haystack... We had aspirations to create an avenue where pinoy and pinay steemit users would rally together but that came without a sound direction.

Its been a year in the platform but we havent had nice things to do other than getting beaten at the challenges on #steemwars

We know where to go but didnt know how to get there, but that was not until yesterday..

It all started with this chat msg

In our regular chats at @teamphilippines discord channel, @devereei thought of doing charity... an outreach project to be undertaken by #teamph
https://discord.gg/UHPrs

This led me to suggesting
to try Mindoro as a prospect. Having been there for more than two years, I saw how the Indigenous People on the Island composing of 7 tribes needed help from the outside.

Then I showed @deveereeli
these pictures..

These are school classrooms, believe it or not!

Ive studied in a public school system but never could I have imagined that these photos were schools. Way back in 2014, I stayed in the Island of Mindoro for 2 years and managed to immerse myself with communities high up the mountains, help them in any way I can.

I saw these structures in different communities of the Indigenous People in Mindoro and I was shocked when I realized these were actually schools were the IP children study for their future.

With those experiences in mind, the moment I joined steemit, I thought of running a series of posts aimed at generating support to the projects #keephopealive had been doing.

I was supposed to run a series of posts on my experiences in mindoro... all earnings to be donated to keephope alive, unfortunately payouts did not went well then, only few upvoted the contents. It was only a couple of posts before I gave up. I thought charity was not a thing for early adopters of steemit.

KeepHopeAlive:Heart of a Volunteer

This post was the supposed prelude of my charity posts for mangyan schools and communities that didn't went well.

Yesterday @deveerei showed me this and convinced me to give it a try for the second time.. He posted some of the photos I sent him and tried to test the river... It was a good start. @immarojas too had wonderful ideas on how to go over it again.

Steemit Charity, New Campaign

Because of this I felt compelled to do it once again.

I thought this might be a good project for #teamphilippines.

We were very touched when you introduced the project. It was heart melting. Most Filipinos aren't even aware what our fellow countrymen are experiencing. Not all know of such poverty existing in our country, and not all has a heart like you Mr. @tjpezlo. We were amazed and taken aback by awe with your story. We'd like to give you a tap on the back and even an applause for the things that you've done and tried to do. It's amazing how the international community here in Steemit reacts to posts like this once they got traction and they've reached the proper audiences. We've experienced it firsthand in our posts, it's not much yet, but it helps. Thank you for your service.

thank you for the support and all the things you do for the country and steemit.

I love libraries and open source projects for eBooks.

thanks @joeyarnoldvn. If you had the chance to support one, would you do it?

wish i could upvote more.. thanks for sharing this.

thanks. very much appreciated

Now..how do we do this? posts and help request won't be enough. who can we forward donations to??? the ball is rolling @tjpezlo @deveerei

I have yet to talk to @tjpezlo about it again. We may have to consolidate all the liquid funds somewhere first. As of the moment we plan to create another account named after the foundtaion, however we need to buy it for it to be legal.

We can also keep the liquid funds in the waller and save it there or send it over into an exchange then into a btc or peso wallet and either save up till the amount is significant or send it over to the foundation from time to time.

Wont it be better for us to buy what it can that the school need? donors want transparency :)

we got that... for a start, we create an account were we would consolidate funds, when we have gatthered enough to start a small project of activity, we hand over the funds to #kha, then we make the foundation accountable and make sure everything is documented

Remember..that when you started it before there's not much. what can we buy with small amount? When we have traction, ie. bigger amount, we can donate it or do something big like you guys can build the school for example.
Because if there's not much for a start, we can still get some stuff for the kids..like steemians gift or something and we document it and post here. This is a continous process where we can show where the money goes. Very transparent.

i can facilitate that... build schools for them, even libraries... classes has just started and this is timely. if we get enough to buy school stuffs for the kids in one school, we distribute it immediately. KHA had been doing that for many years already. its just a matter of when will the suppprt be ready.

no.problem.with transparency.

If you are happy with that, make a proper plan so we can post about it.Mas maganda and madali makakuha ng traction hopefully if meron plano to post about. then update posts na lang on your side. sabe ko nga, let's start with someting small then nalaki. what do you thimk @deveerei j

That is a very good idea, let me know how i can help, although we could only transfer steem! I happy to help out or poor countrymen specially the kids as they are the next generation that will be leaders, keep me posted

thanks @errymil we are on the process of creatimg an account for kha. will.update you soon. thanks
