CHECKLIST ON HOW TO BE A FILIPINO

POLITENESS

Politeness is a natural behavior in the Philippines. nearly every foreigners will be named to as “Sir” and “Ma'am” regardless their age. You’ll notice teenagers refer to the women and men a bit older as “ates” and “kuyas” (something like elder sister or brother).

Filipinos are known for being respectful for their elders, it shows in many approach in everyday life. For example, elderly are addressed as “po” after please, to express thank you, and other verbal communication.

Seniors, persons with disability, and pregnant women also have their own dedicated line at banks, restaurants and taxi queues, allowing them to bypass around the crowd.

"MANO PO"

"Mano po" is one way that Filipinos show to their Seniors. Literally, meaning can I ask over for your blessing?, and the elder may respond, “God bless you” or "May the Lord give you mercy". more often “Mano Po” is applied when a person is leaving or arriving in the place.

Today, this ethic is kept preserved by Filipinos, and even OFWs would show their children how to have importance to this tradition. Unfortunately some children in today's generation don't practice this anymore due to culture change when they shift to another country

HOSPITABLE

As Filipinos, this sense of morality is something that is noticeable soon as you step off the plane—you will be greeted passionately at the airport, at the hotel, in the restaurants, and basically every place that you go.

The Philippines has a satisfying traits of assistance for foreigners, but Filipino warmth also reflects by means of welcoming our relatives and even our colleagues, close or new friends alike.

HARD WORKING

No one can ever question how hard working Fililinos are. In UK alone, the quantity of OFWs juggling more than one full-time job is unmeasurable. Retail helper in the morning, care giver in the evening. Company cleaner on weekdays, Home cleaner on weekends. Receptionist on days, nurse hospital on nights.

Working in their individual jobs, they give appreciation not only on their own country but also in the country that they are working.

CREATIVE

Even if it's in art, music, technology and trades. Few of our brilliant countrymen can come up with a intelligent idea despite of poorness or shortage in monetary resources. Filipinos are also great in recycling scrap and change them into creative device.

COMPANIONSHIP

Camaraderie is also know to Filipinos as "Pakikisama" is sharing one's riches, talent, hour and self with fellow brothers as in bayanihan, working unitedly for a common aim without affection for monetary compensation. The wonderful idea of having helped accomplish something for the typical goal is its own reward. It is fascinating to note that the base word for bayanihan is bayani, "Hero;" thus, "being heroes".

ADAPTABLE

Against of all the catastrophe that battered the country, strong earthquake and Super Typhoon Yolanda that ravaged the center of Visayas in 2013, Filipinos are relentless enough to get back on their feet, even without the solidified aid from the authorities. Filipino can adapt to any sort of surroundings and can mingle to any groups of people all over the world.

HELPFUL

While other folks thinking about the Filipino ethics the first idea that pops into their attention is the kindness Filipinos gives and how beneficial they are to others.

The Filipino tradition is about giving repect to others and being cooperative to them as well. once you enter into the home of a Filipino they will present you that kindness immediately by feeding you with great food, sharing fascinating stories, and they may even consider you like you are a sibling to them.

Filipinos are well-known for helping others before themselves for the reason that they want to make other persons glad and feel lucky , specially when it comes to younger kids

Majority of Filipino parents would like to see their children successful and to get a sophisticated life than they ever had. If the family is poverty-stricken they will sacrifice for a loved one whether if its to getting educated or starving for foodstuff to eat they will carry out their best to aid a loved no matter how hard it is for them.
