While the remunerative functionality of Steem is pretty borked presently, the mechanisms underlying it's potential to enable distributed self governance remain intact, and ongoing development continually sets up and knocks down seemingly random boundaries between Steem and success. It could accidentally succeed due to some unforeseen mechanism at any moment.

Political unrest ongoing globally reveals that folks are ready to put paid to globalism and corrupt centralized social control mechanisms, and the wealth and power of our collective production is being redirected from parasitic cabals to productive individuals by distributed means of production more every day. Millions of folks around the world are developing and deploying means of producing their own food, security, wealth, and goods and services of every kind. While there's no discrete line that demarcates the defeat of neoliberal fascism, as dispersal of personal means of manufacturing continues, the desperation of the banksters is reflected in ever more fantastic and delusional propaganda that strives ever harder to keep people from seizing for themselves their wealth and authority by adopting security mechanisms more advanced than the ancient technology of firearms, which is best suited to projecting institutional power with the force of thugs so armed.

Things are just getting good. I'm looking forward to the panic as sheep and their shepherds begin realizing that legacy political power is utterly obsolete when thugs become trivially prevented from projecting force by microwave moats, personal swarms, and the myriad forms of more advanced security tech that begins now to dawn on the plethora of outraged victims warmongers and profiteers have left alive in the wake of their depredations, and yet threaten. 1000 years is a long time for technical improvements, and the sudden impact of modern tech deployed by individuals newly empowered by decentralization of means of production will demonstrate just how much tech has improved in a millenium.
