That is quite the drive, but as you said worth the trouble. Is this place as deserted as it appears in your pictures or were you lucky enough to take shots the split second no tourists were in front of you?
I think this area is a timeless area, that makes it wonderful place. It takes a lot of time to go there, I guess only Kiwi's and travelers with a long term visas go here.

I think there were five cars at the carpark. We had the feeling we were alone and indeed time enough to shoot photos.
I remember visiting those caves maybe 30 Years ago thannksfor sharing and bringing back memories of that trip

yes I think the fact that not to many go there is part of its charm
