Chap Goh Meh (CNY Day 15)

in #teammalaysia6 years ago (edited)

There are two meanings in Chap Goh Meh day. Can be meant as Lantern Day (fall on the last day of Chinese New Year) and to some is also known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day.

First, I went to the Station 1 just before 8pm and is just the right time the God Tour hasn’t arrived and I have the chance to take their worship foods and displays. As this year is the year of Dog and the theme is Dog. Beside the display of dog, they also have different kind of cakes that the toppings are made of green beans, peanuts and some using sunflower seeds to make the wordings as well. They also have seafoods in display like crabs, prawns, lobsters as well. Beside that, they roast the pig, ducks and chickens as well. All of them have their creativity for displaying their worship as you can see my pictures attached.

It has 4 stations all together. They walk from station 1 to 2 to 3 and the last one to station 4. Based on my experienced, normally they started prayers at around 5pm before their journey and ends up at around 1am. By the way, their journey is by walking.

Here I attached the map from the organizer.

Wow... I always thought of Labuan as a very small town with only a few restaurants and population of around 2000.... very nice photos and now I have a better understand of how big Labuan actually is...

Labuan is just a small island like about 93 square km in a status of duty free. Cheap alcohol, cheap cigarettes, cheap cars and of course cheap musical instruments as well. Hahahahaha.
The population is 60k approximately.

Chap Goh Mei celebration in Labuan is certainly the most happening/grand celebration I've seen so far.

It was such a great experience to see it myself for the 1st time last night thou I only visited Station Two. Will definitely come back next year!

@connie1018, you missed the station 1 whereby is the most presentable comparing with the other 3. Is a once a year event to witness with your own eyes. Next year come earlier.

原来纳闽也有这么精彩的元宵节庆典。

Yes. Is very happening every year.
