Born in September 1971 at a place called Ballybricken, County Limrick, Ireland, she's the lead singer for a band group called 'The Cranberries'. This alternative rock band was formed in 1989 but Dolores only joined in 1990. Their debut album 'Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?', rose them to fame in late 1990's. They have four top twenty albums on the Billboard 200 chart in (Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?, No Need to Argue, To the Faithful Departed and Bury the Hatchet). They also have eight top 20 singles on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in songs like 'Linger', 'Dreams', 'Zombie', 'Ode To My Family', 'Ridiculous Thoughts', 'Salvation', 'Free To Decide' and 'Promises'

The Cranberries

Personally, the song that made them really famous to me was 'Zombie'. I still remember during high school our talented 'local or in-house band' trying to impress us by singing this song, you will have the base to start off than the drums, than the lead guitar, then the lead singer. To tell you the truth, its not easy to sing this song...have tried this several times in the bar (definitely after a couple of beer jars) and it is just hard to mimic her way of singing. The chorus part where you have to sing 'Zomb..eh, Zom...beh,..eyeh...eyeh' was the best part. The other two songs that i really love was 'Ode to My Family' and 'Linger'.

The other thing that made an impact during the 90's was Dolores's hairstyle. You don't see or seldom see ladies walking around in the streets with a mans haircut in the 80's. After her debut, you will see ladies dared themselves to change and have a haircut just like Dolores. I do believe that Dolores have changed not only the way she sings in the music world but also in the hairstyle fashion world.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the singer that had changed my perspective into alternative rock music. A sad lost indeed.

Our prayers and condolence to her Family and friends from us here in Malaysia.
