How Grab dominate South East Asia Market ?

Few years back, Uber and Grab seem to be on equal in the market . But lately Grab seem to be dominating the South East Asia Market , so how did it manage? The following is base on my own analysis.

Loyalty Program for driver and passenger

One thing i notice is Uber does not have a loyalty program . In Grab ,every ringgit you spend you can to earn some point which you can use to buy the promo code. Depend on what level you are , the price for the promo is different for each class. In Grab , there is the silver member, gold member and platinum member(the highest level) . The higher your level , the less point you need to get the RM5 promo code . if you are a platinum member and you only use grab-pay to pay, you will only need 590 point to buy RM5 promo code . If you pay using grab-pay than you will need to spend RM59 to get 590 point to get RM5 promo code, it is like 9% cashback in the form of discount.

Fixed Fare

I think i rather have a fixed fare than base on time like uber. Personally i think it is the driver side to find the best and most efficient way to sent the passenger. Plus i don't want to suddenly need to pay extra if i did not bring extra money on that day. Did you see post office suddenly come to your house to ask you to pay extra due to last minute increase of cost for the item you already pay beforehand ? It is the company responsible to decide how much to charge in the beginning of the business , not suddenly after transaction come and find you to ask you to pay more.
Grab ride will only go when there is a high demand which i consider it fair since this is base on supply and demand.

Reward loyal customer & control free promo code

This year Grab have change how they give out promo code. One of the biggest issue in Malaysia especially for platinum member like me is every time a promo code come out , i can't bloody use it because it finished before i have a chance to use. I found out from Grab driver that every time a promo code come out, the college area will have many student suddenly using the Grab promo code . When there is no promo code, the college area is very quiet .
The idea behind promo code is to promote people to use Grab , not for cheapskate people who only use grab when got free promo code .
Likely this is why Grab decide to change how promo code are given .
Now only those who receive the message about them getting to use a promo code get to use it . Anyone who did not receive the e-mail or message will not be able to use it .
I am very happy about this new changes because sometime there is promo code just for us platinum member that is different from gold and silver member.

I believe this are the 3 thing that allow Grab to dominate the South East Asia Market .

Good points there. I, however, prefer Uber because with Grab, @deborism and I get cars that's heavy on third hand smoke (drivers that smoke inside the car). As both of us are allergic to cigarette smoke, you can imagine how bad a long ride in it can be.
