[Day 1] What to do , stay and eat in Jeju island, Korea
Hello Steemit community! Would like to share with you on WHAT TO DO, STAY AND EAT IN JEJU ISLAND, KOREA!
I really love Jeju, it is more like a quiet and relaxing island but really huge. To travel from one destination to the other, I spent most of the time on the road. Will definitely visit Jeju again one day!
Day 1
Flights
KL – Incheon, Seoul (Malaysia Airlines) (1130pm – 710am)
Incheon – Gimpo – Jeju (T’way) (1130 am – 1245 pm)
I did a bit of survey before I bought the ticket to Jeju Island. Among the few airlines (Jeju Air, T’way, Eastarjet),I chose T’way because it’s the cheapest for the flight I want (departing 1130 am) and it is the best connecting flight to Jeju after arriving Incheon at 710am. It is much cheaper to take flights from Gimpo to Jeju than Incheon to Jeju.
How to get to Gimpo airport
When you arrived at Incheon, head to the basement, follow the sign that writes “Airport Railroad”, buy a ticket from the vending machine to go to Gimpo Airport. It costs around 4500 Won for one way. Don’t get the express ticket! That will bring you to Seoul Station straight. Gimpo airport is in between Incheon airport and Seoul station. The journey takes about 37 minutes. Remember to return your single pass to the refund machine to get back 500 Won!
Upon arriving Gimpo airport, it’s a bit tricky now. So, I checked in online using T’way website and got my boarding pass. On the departure board, it is showing Gate 2 for T’way. When I walked up the escalator after a long walk, I saw ” Gate 1″ , “Gate 2”. Apparently, that is for arriving and people will board the bus from those gates. For departure, you have to go up till Level 2 if I am not mistaken then look for the departure hall and go through the bag checks. Another long walk to reach Gate 2 in the departure hall.
Upon arriving Jeju Island
We rented a car online in advanced using SIXT car rental. It is much cheaper to get it online as well. SIXT has really good customer service. I left my jacket in the car and they offered to send it to the airport personally. I was really touched by their service. Thanks 🙂 They have staffs who can speak English and reply emails in English which make it much easier to ask questions. Remember to rent a GPS (English speaking)! Make sure you have a list of places that you want to go with its phone number for GPS searching!

How to apply for international driving permit (http://www.jpj.gov.my/web/eng/international-driving-permit)
Accommodation: Kensington Hotel, Seo-gwimpo (7358900)
This is a really nice 5 stars hotel with infinity pool, indoor and outdoor pool, gym, sauna, hot pool, jacuzzi, gallery, nice garden, free bubble pool party, bar, coffee house. The mini bar in the room is complimentary (bottled water, beers, chocolate, snacks, locker wafer, nuts, fizzy alcoholic drink)
After long hours of flight, the only thing I wanted to do is to rest and lie down on this comfortable bed. We did not do much on the first day, just hunt for food at night.
Dinner: Samgyetang – traditional ginseng chicken with fresh abalone for 25000 Won.
GPS: 7623319
It really tastes like traditional home cooked food. The quality of the chicken and the salt they gave you is really good compared to those I tried in Seoul. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
It is a bit hard to find, it is near to the backpacker’s home.
We bought some hallabong by the road side just opposite this restaurant. It is around 2000 won each. In case you dont know, hallabong tastes abit like orange, looks cute too!
I will continue with Day 2 another day! Stay tune!
I hope this helps you with your planning especially getting your international driving permit before hand!
Good advice. Thanks for the info on the international driving licence.
