Arsenal only won the League Cup twice in their history: 1986/87 and 1992/93 when George Graham’s team won the cup Double.
The last time Arsenal even made the final of the League Cup was 2010/11 when we famously lost 2-1 to Birmingham. Before that, we were beaten by Chelsea in 2006/07.
Since that defeat to Birmingham, we’ve been humiliated more than once. We’ve been knocked out on penalties by Bradford City, pushed out by Southampton twice, and thrashed 3-0 by Sheffield Wednesday just last season.
Why do Arsene Wenger’s men appear to struggle so much during this particular competition when the manager is the most successful coach in history in the FA Cup?
Perhaps it’s to do with the boss not taking it seriously enough. The FA Cup, despite being ‘just’ a cup, is still prestigious while being manageable. In the absence of a league title, we’ve gone for it, Wenger’s put out strong teams, and won it three times since 2013/14.
Hopefully, arsenal can get a good run this season. Pasd had beaten Norwich, now let’s beat West Ham on Tonite midnite....
