本地榴莲-武吉竿档休息站 Local durian-Bukit Gantang Rest Stop
路上经过江沙地区，开往太平的方向就是武吉竿档，脑子里闪过小时候父亲带着一家人在这附近停车在路边，然后就跟路边摊子讲价吃起榴莲。很自然的，方向盘就往左边拐了过去。心想，好吧！如果真的有榴莲，那准备五十块钱，吃了算。结果眼看着这么多不同品种的本地榴莲，选了两粒。结果，不想而知一吃就停不了嘴，吃了五粒。心想这次完了！这么吃下去分分钟过百块钱了！！！结果，竟然是出乎预料以外的三十九块钱。
As we passed by Kuala Kangsar heading to Taiping, we're in the middle of Bukit Gantang. In my mind was my father driving the whole family, stopped the car by the roadside, haggle with the stalls and whack durian by the roadside. Thinking of that, unconsciously I turned to my left and stopped by the durian stall. I was thinking of going to spend 50, hit and run, as long I get a taste of that king of fruit. And guess what, there's so many type of them, we choose 2 durians and started eating. Guess how it ended up, it's like unstoppable! we ended up ate 5 durians. I was thinking, crap ~! this is going to cost me a bomb. And the bill came, 39. I had to laugh so loud but refrain from letting the stall owner feels that I think it's cheap.

That exotic fruit is controversial, some say it is the king of fruits and many say it smells really bad, if I'm a tourist what do you think my reaction would be if I eat one of those?
Smell is very subjective. It's a signal sent from your nose to your brain, stating there's this "smell" coming in. Since it's a fruit, if people told you its good, and you've done your study on it knowing it's not going to kill you, you can do it this way. Squeeze your nose, eat some of those and release your nose. Let your tongue do the talking to your brain in the first place.
Majority of people doesn't understand these fruit brings more nutrition and the taste and texture of the flesh are awesome. In the end, smell is actually the byproduct of this good stuff. And those who enjoy the taste, they praise the fruit with the smell. Isn't that funny? Those who can't accept the smell, they deter it with the smell rather than the taste and nutrition of this fruit.
Good to hear that your father is fine now and he was driving the car. And I've never saw these kind of stuff which you shared in these pictures, it's really unique to watch and good to hear that you really enjoyed these stuff.
And whenever we travel, the most exciting thing is stopping by at any random places for the foodie stuff and that gives amazing essence for sure.

Hey buddy. Thanks for stopping by. Perhaps you misunderstood. I was mentioning passing by this place reminds me of the older days when I was a kid, my father brought the whole family here for durian.
Durian is a tropical fruit, mainly available in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. It's a very high nutrition and high energy fruit. The fruit came with a distinctive smell that not everyone would take. Some said it has the most beautiful smell, some said it smells like cat shit. After taken this fruit, even shit/pee/sweat would have the smell of it. So yeah, if going for a date, it's better to not consume this fruit within 12 hours time frame to avoid disappointment 🤣
