Inunaki Tunnel

Located between Nagasaki and Fukuoka, Inunaki tunnel was opened in 1920. It was famous for fatal accidents and was one of the top three haunted venues in Japan. Walls along the tunnel were covered in graffiti. Cars passing through the tunnel would break down all of a sudden. Creepy weeping sounds could be heard from the tunnel at night. In 1988, a man was driving through the tunnel. His car suddenly burst into flames for no reason. He was trapped in the car and burn to death. Inunaki Tunnel is now sealed off and trespassers will face punishment.

The Eight-feet Ghost

Word has it that the eight-feet ghost is a long-limbed female ghost of approximately 240 cm in height. She makes a creepy roaring sound when she laughs. Some say she is a young lady in her mouring garment, while some say she is an old lady wearing kimono. Japanese adults always remind their children not to go out of the house when they hear someone knocking on the window and calling for help in the middle of the night. It is said that the eight-feet ghost uses this tactic to get people out of their house and kill them.

Yurei

Yurei is an unknown subject hovering around paddy fields or riverbanks in summer. It is said to be appearing in white or black, with its form remained uncertain. It is safe to look at the Yurei from a distance. If you try to approach it, you may lose your consciousness or risk losing your life. Rumour has it that two primary students bumped in a Yurei at the same time, the student with poor eyesight was save, while the one with better eyesight died.

Teke Teke

Teke teke is a half-bodied ghost with legs which usually appears on dark streets at night. It propels forward with tis hands in great speed. It name ‘teke teke’ is said to be derived from the sound of this movement. There are Japanese films about the teke teke.

The Headless Driver

There are people who claimed that they saw a headless driver driving a car in Tokyo. If you feel uneasy all of a sudden while driving, and see a headless driver in your rear view mirror, make sure you speed up to get rid of the car. It is said if you are being surpassed by the headless driver, you would be dragged into a horrible accident.
