Explore Adelaide's New Toy - Xiaomi Mijia Sphere 360

This week the Explore Adelaide team got it's hands on a new camera, we'll call it an early Christmas present.

While we're out and about exploring, we try to capture everything, and sometimes a photo just isn't enough.

It doesn't matter if you take 20 pictures and a panorama, it just doesn't match the experience of actually being there, that's why when we saw the Mi Sphere we had to get one.

This 3.5k 360 camera captures everything with just one photo, meaning we spend less time trying to stitch images together in photoshop, and more time exploring.

So far, the only downside to this camera is also one of it's best features... it captures everything which means if you want to take picture of a national park, or the beach, you're also going to be in the photo.

The full 360 view of this camera also means you're going to get some of the tripod in shot, this isn't too hard to cover up with either a logo, or a bit of old fashioned photoshopping.

This also meant we had to re-purpose/ destroy one of our tripods and trim it down to try and reduce it's footprint.

There are still a few things that the camera / included software is lacking, but I expect that will be fixed in updates. Our main issue with the included software is that is unable to stitch the camera's raw DNG files, which means you can either have a well stitched panorama, or a better looking image.

All things considered, we give this camera a 9.8/10, for the price point it is an amazing camera, the only thing missing is the software to manipulate the photos after taking them.
