Red Rock Ayers Rock
This is a huge mountain - the world's largest single stone with a height of 348 m, the ancient sacred place of worship of Australian Aborigines. The cliff is located in the vicinity of the Kata Tiyuta National Park, 450 km away from Alice Springs. Here you can climb up to the mountain itself with a height of 1.6 km, or simply register for a walk around a massive cliff together with an aboriginal guide who will tell stories and legends about the stone.
Once upon a time this stone was an island in the middle of a huge lake. Later it dried up, but the locals still believe that inside the huge cliff there lives a mountain host who when meeting people takes the form of a huge water python or black lizard. The stone itself is covered with winding caves with rock paintings and ritual altars.
Also in the park of Kata Tiyuta there are majestic desert landscapes and other sacred places for local people (for example, 36 bizarre natural figures that together form a dome and rise to a height of 546 meters, occupying an area of 36 sq. Km).
Are you and Aussie yourself? Do you photograph your own adventures?
Despite all of our destruction and ignorance, there are still these places of great beauty around the world. Nice post!
Great images and interesting post. That looks like a fascinating place to visit! The first image was a drone shot, I assume?
