Grammar Translation Method of Teaching   (گرائمر ٹرانسلیشن کا طریقہ)

History:پس منظر

               Grammar translation method is oldest method of teaching a foreign language .Before the Britians the Mulvis and Pandits used it for teaching Arabic,Persian and Sansikrit. Now a days it is being used in our schools all over the country .To learn a foreign language ,the best way is to first memorize rules of its grammar.

گرائمر ٹرانسلیشن کا طریقہ بیرونی زبان کی تدریس کا قدیم طریقہ ہے۔برصغیر میں انگریزوں کی آمد سے پہلے مولوی اور پنڈت اس طریقہ کو عربی،فارسی،سنسکرت کی تدریس کے لئے استعمال کر تے تھے۔آج کل یہ ہمارے ملک کے تمام سکولوں میں یہ طریقہ تدریس رائج ہے۔

Process of Translation Method.

1.Start from words of daily use:

روز مرہ زندگی کے الفاظ سے آغاز۔

                                                                               In translation method the lesson should be started with meaningful words of daily use.While introducing the objects its (Urdu) equivalent will be given in this method .In beginning classes ,early few months should be spent  on developing sound pronunciation.

ٹرانسلیشن طریقہ تدریس کا آغاز روزمرہ زندگی کے با معنی الفاظ سے کر نا چاہیے۔ابتدائی جماعتوں میں کچھ مہنینے کچھ بو جھ پیدا کرنے اور تلفظ میں پختگی پیدا کر نے میں گزارے جا تے ہیں۔

2.Simple Structure: 

سادہ ساخت

                                                 As the second step ,teacher should introduce very simple English structure such as ("This is,That is, These are,Those are") and then translate the structure in Urdu.The students should be encouraged to form simple sentences by joining different structure.

دوسرے مرحلے میں استاد کو انگریزی کی سادہ ساخت کو متعارف کرانا چاہیے۔اور ساخت کا اردو ترجمہ ضرور کرنا چاہیے۔استاد کو طالبعلم کی حوصلہ افزائی کرنی چاہیے تاکہ وہ الفاظ کے بہمی اشتراک سے جملے بنا سکیں۔

3.Teaching Grammar along with the structure:

ساخت کے ساتھ گرائمر کی تدریس۔

                                                                                                                  When a structure has been fully mastered it should be broken up into parts .Concept of  noun ,pronoun,subject, object, adjectives ,adverb etc should be clarified by examples from native language..Tenses should be taught by comparing them with the tenses in native language.

جب طلباء کسی بھی ساخت کی مکمل سمجھ بوجھ حاصل کر لیں تو اسے مختلف تو ڑ دینا چاہیے ۔ٹینس مقامی زبان میں قواعد کے اصولوں سے مقابلہ کرتے ہو ئے پڑھا ئے جا یئں۔

4.Emphasis on reading and writing

لکھنے اور پڑھنے پر اصرار۔

                                                                                        In this method emphasis should be on reading ability of students .It is very important that fluency of reading would be helpful in developing efficiency in  speaking.

                                                                                        In early classes, there should be drill practice for loud reading and in secondary classes time should be devoted for reading .When child learn few meaningful words ,he should be given practice in writing those words .Reading should be followed by  writing.

اس طریقہ تدریس میں طلبا ء کی مطالعہ کی صلاحیت پر زور دیا جا تا ہے کیونکہ بہت ضروری ہے کہ طلبا ء میں پڑھنے کی صلاحیت پیدا کی جا ئے۔

جب طلباء چند با معنی الفا ظ پڑھنا سیکھ لیتے ہیں تو ان کو لکھتے ہیں۔اس طرح پڑھنے کی عادت لکھنے کی عادت کا باعث بنتی ہے۔

5. Translation and Re-Translation

ترجمہ اور دوبارہ ترجمہ کرنا۔

                                                                                   It should be started with translation of simple word to complex sentences .Large and complex  sentences may be broken in to the parts .Translation from English to Urdu or another native language should be taken up simultaneously .

                                                                                     Re-translation  (from Urdu to English) should start from simple sentences consisting of one clause .first it should be combination of simple structure and a noun as,"This is a book ."After sufficient practice of one structure then move to another structure.

اس طریقہ تدریس میں سادہ جملوں کے ترجمے سے آغاز کر کے مشکل کی طرف لے جا یا ہے۔لمبے اور مشکل جملوں کو مختلف حصوں میں منقسم کر دیا جا تا ہے۔انگریزی سے اردو اور مقامی زبان میں ترجمہ بیک وقت لیا جاتا ہے اور دوبارہ ترجمہ کرتے وقت ایسے سادہ جملے سے آغاز کیا جا تا ہے ۔جو ایک ہی جملے پر مشتمل ہو
