TEZDELE Q&A 04: Why does a cycle take about 3 days?

in #te6 years ago (edited)

Hi All,

It's me Rooney.

Are you doing alright? Hope you are having fun with recent news: opening mainnet of Tezos.

I brought another basic question for you all. These days, I've been focusing on some fundamental questions about Tezos since folks in Tezos world only are talking about bakings and rewards, thus, I think that they find themselves not answering with no good explanation when being asked about like 'Why does a cycle take about 3 days?'

Ok, now, take a look at the today's question for you!

Q: Why does a cycle take about 3 days?

To be honest, it's a thing that you just calculate back the amount of 1 cycle! Well noticed what I meant? Here is a break down explanation below;

A: A cycle is a sum of 4,096 blocks and a block is being created in 1 min., then, we may be able to count it back from 4,096 blocks. In an hour, we may expect 60 blocks to be created, thus, 1,440 blocks are being created every day. Still remember that a cycle is a total of 4,096? Then just divide 4,096 by 1,440. Finally, you deserve to know why people are saying it takes about 3 days for a cycle to be created, and exactly, takes 2.84 days!

Isn't it interesting to know a bit detail information on terms about Tezos?

Hoped you enjoy and keep doing happy baking for you(:

Thanks,

Rooney
