Yeah it is fine to want to feed people the problems arise when you are forced to give your money to bureaucrats at gunpoint and have them redistribute it for you.
I had the option at my last job to be on the books or off the books. I chose to pay in. It sucks when you see that half of it goes directly to invading countries and building bombs.
