What Tauchain can do for us: Finding the world's biggest problems
Many people care about the world but finding and tracking the biggest problems is not easy. How can an effective altruist know which problem to commit to or which cause to focus on if they don't have the tools to measure and compare problems?
What if we were to tell you that, over the second half of the 20th century, progress on treatments for diarrhea did as much to save lives as achieving world peace over the same period would have done?
Global health is a problem which has a huge impact if improvements can be found. The amount of lives which can be saved just from curing a disease is massive. Of course people typically try to help those in their own country as a priority but if you use the calculation that all lives are of equal value no matter which country they are born then it would be obvious that this problem if solved has a tremendous impact impact.
Can Tauchain help? It can help in finding the problems to solve and it can help in solving the problems. Whether it be protein folding, or other mechanisms to map out how proteins interact, or stuff we cannot yet think of. The power of AI to do good and to help solve these problems is great and this means Tauchain can have a larger ethical impact than Bitcoin or Ethereum which cannot do AI. If the mechanism design is right, people can be rewarded for participation in solving global health problems.
