Martabak Sinar Bulan Since 1974

Some of us not even born yet in 1974, but this place has been open its doors for public. I cant imagine those days how it was. Certainly today, i am super stoke and lucky to tried this magnificient snack.
It a street stall and most of the people would buy and takeway for it. Me and friends were stuffed from dinner actually, but once i saw this, i gotta try it.
In Malaysia, this is called Kuih Bulan or Terang Bulan however i think Indonesia ones taste more better with variety choices of flavour and ingredients. For my friends outside of Asia, this literally we say "Pan Cake" in English :)
This stall is hard to describe, It is located infront of the Famous "Bakso Akiaw 99" in Jalan Mangga Besar, Jakarta. You will not missed it.
The stall looks simple and easy set up.
Another Pic to see name of the signboard clearly.
It was rather a push cart than a Stall.
Simple Flour and their secret ingredients of spices. If you think try doing at home, seems easy, but the ration of water and flours is crucial. To get the right ration is usually done is trial and error.
Flours put into the Pan, it was quite a big huge pan actually, from pic seems small, seeing it reality real is huge.
I chosen my with peanut and chocolate chips actually and thats mine, i also requested for the thinner flour. You can choose either thin based or thick based flour.
They put sugar, Choco chips, peanuts, icing of some sort , marjerin, and others ingredients. What shock me actually is thier cooker, they are using Charcoal to cook. This is freaking awesome, no wander we smell charcoal bbq when i taste it.
once ingredients is in, they cover it.
Flip it Over and almost done.
Work station, they ask if wanna cut, Yes PLz... because i am sharing with friends.
Selfie is must thou.
Looks so so only, blame it on my lousy iphone camera. Lol
Try it , taste it and its spectacular. very smoky smell with blend of savoury and sweet.
The price list menu, I paid Rp145,000.00 (USD2.80), the price actually is quite steep and on the high side for a street vendor stall. Nonetheless, it was all good.
Overall Rating: 8/10
Service : 8/10
Ambience : 5/10
Food : 10/10
Would You Re-Visit: HMMM probably no because of the price actually. I can get cheaper in Malaysia.
Happy Eating Folks!!!

Hey hey.. Bro... This looks like the Apam Balik of sarawak. I can see that it looks thinner and crunchier that what we have in Sarawak. Nice review. I have neever been to indonesia and it's great to glimpse into what they eat.
Thanks ...Yeap here in KK also call Apam Balik but the thicker version. We also have this type thinner call Terang Bulan (almost similar) different ingredient only.
Hey hey Veenang, ooo okie. Next time I will go try the Terang Bulan. I think the taste of the Indonesian one should be similar to the Malaysian apam balik/terang Bulan.

USD2.80 is quite expensive for stall food. Maybe because you are a tourist that they took advantage of your generosity. But it does look really tasty.
