The down under (Sydney, Sydney Cove Oyster Bar)
Visiting Australia escapes you from all sorts of pollution, especially PM2.5 micro dust that has been invading Asia for some time now. The clean pollution free air, and the amazing weather makes you want to come back for some more of the life down under. This sort of clear blue sky is just breathtaking to look at. I could lay down and stare at the clouds for hours.
Sydney, has a special place in my heart because of the harbor view in the heart of the city. With such amazing weather, I would walk from Central station all the way to the quay enjoying the empty streets in the early hours of morning. One the way, I would grab a cup of latte, and place myself in a quiet bench along the Quay. This little place I discovered is NOT packed with tourists, has an amazing view of the opera house, and has benches around for pedestrians to relax.
But at night, the view is jaw dropping
Thought the opera house in the morning was a gorgeous view? hold your horses because at night, the whole harbor and the opera house is impressively lit. Just imagine having this view during dinner.
Annually, the Sydney Opera House hosts Vivid, an annual light show from May ~ June, transforming the opera house's roof into a canvas for spectacular lights and images to be shown across.
Strolling down the harbor at night the Sydney Opera House lights up your night sky. But on the opposite end, the Sydney Harbor Bridge elaborately lights itself up too, as if mirroring the opera house from across the quay.
Dinner after the view
As you walk along the harbor, the Sydney Cove Oyster Bar is on the main promenade with a waterside view. As the name says so, the place is known for their oysters. With a view of the opera house, we ordered an oyster platter and other main dishes.
Freshly opened oysters are served. Nothing special in the decor, because the taste is everything. It might be because I don't live next to the ocean, but these were one of the freshest oysters I have ever tasted.
Cheers to another beautiful night.
Scallops with mushroom for a start. Unlike the raw oysters this dish was rather mediocre. But must say, the freshness of the shellfish is outstanding.
For a side dish, gambas with bread.
Although it is a rather expensive restaurant, a once in a while visit for a special occasion is reasonable.
