Filipino Dish: Sinigang na Bangus
Sinigang is a very popular Filipino dish, known for its savory and sour taste. The most popular meat used for sinigang are bangus(milkfish) or pork. For this recipe, we used bangus instead of pork because aside from the ASF disease on pork in the country, we just missed eating bangus. Lol.
The ingredients for sinigang is just few and very easy to find in the market.
❣️ Bangus (milkfish) or pork
❣️ Ginger
❣️ Tomatoes
❣️ Salt
❣️ Sweet Potato Leaves
❣️ Eggplant
❣️ Sinigang mix / Limes / Radish
❣️ Green pepper
❣️ Okra
We don't have okra and green pepper which makes it quite sad for me because I was longing for something spicy for my colds but it's still fine because the hot soup and sour flavor is also good.
The procedure is kind of easy, based from my observation from my mom cooking. Cut ginger and tomatoes and pour two cups of water. Boil.
Then add the sinigang mix and salt.
Then after awhile, add the eggplant, bangus, and sweet potato leaves. The sweet potato leaves was from the plant in our mini garden.
We also paired the sinigang na bangus with a cup of rice because it is best paired with rice.
Sinigang na bangus is one of my favorite Filipino dishes and I eat its belly last. Bangus belly is the best! Don't you agree? 😋
