Tasty Taiwanese beef noodles

A few years ago my friend told me about this beef noodle stall and I've been coming here at least once a month all this time. It's called Bai Li Xiang beef noodle restaurant, and literally translates to hundred miles frangance.

To call this a restaurant is really an overstatement. It doesn't have an actual shop as is it just a stall oustide a property. The weird thing is that this property is always locked up but I can lights inside, but never people. The menu is fixed onto the front of the property which means they never open the shutter. Spooky .

That aside, it is always a very busy place and sometimes I have to wait for fifteen twenty minutes. The tables are just placed outside the property and there is a fence in the side so you don't feel like you're sitting right next to the road. There's also a tarpaulin which they roll down when it's raining.

On thr right hand side is the kitchen. You probably can't get much more open than this.

Despite it being rustic, this place is really good. And their beef soup base is the best I have had.

I always order their standard braised beef soup noodles which only cost a little over USD3. The beef is braised to just the right tenderness, though I have to say, they only rank the second best on my list. The other item in the bowl of noodle which is outstanding is the piece of braised turnip.

Depending in how hungry I am, I will order a selection of braised side dishes. They include different types of tofu, offal and other parts of pork which are not normally eaten by westerners, so I won't go into detailed description here . Let's just say, they are tasty.

The only downside about coming here is that I have to come early. Their official opening hours are 5.30 to 8.30 six days a week. But if you get here around 7ish they would have often sold outSo the point is, they are good!!!!
