Hi tasteemers!
Today I would like to introduce to all our steemians about Sabah Pork Noodle (locally known as Sang Nyuk Mee). Sang Nyuk in Hakka Chinese dialect means raw meat! But don’t worry, no one eat raw meat pork and is just mean they are made from fresh raw meat.

The Background

The name Kedai Kopi Kim Hing Lee is the first authentic coffee shop serves Sabah Signature Pork Noodle since 1982. The origin Sang Nyuk Mee is actually invented from East Coast of Sabah which is Tawau in 1979 but it got famous and popular in Kota Kinabalu Sabah.

The design and outlook still remain the same as the origin except the tables and chairs has been changed.

Signature Dish

Sabah Pork Noodle (Sang Nyuk Mee) serve in 2 different ways. Choice of Noodle Soup or Kon Loo Mee.

There are 3 types of noodles to choose. You may have Rice Noodles Mee Hoon, Flat Rice Noodles or Yellow Noodles.

What is Kon Loo Mee?
They separate both noodles and soup in two different bowls. Their noodles are mixed with their aromatic dark soy sauce and pork oil and the soup is serve with your own selections (pork slice or internal organs or both mixed).

This is my favorite choice, I prefer yellow noodle and pork slice! If you want to order this, just by telling them you want KON LOO MEE - PORK SLICE ONLY! So they won’t serve you with any internal organs.

My First Bite

Before that, stir the noodles with the soy sauce mixed evenly then only eat! The result is amazing! The noodles are so tasty with their thick aroma soy sauce that couldn’t find anywhere better than this and the soup are incredibly the best ever. The pork meat that they served is so thin but tender. Beside that the meat is soft and smooth as well! You can request for an additional soup if is not enough to satisfy yourself and I bet you will ask for more! Trust me! Is really good!

Why they taste so good?

Ta-Daa! Is because they cook and boil their soup by using charcoal instead of gas! This really gives lot of different in taste. They still remain the cooking tradition till now.

I highly recommend this place for their signature food even though you can find everywhere else due to the popular dish but I’m sure you can’t find the original taste that cooked from the tradition charcoal way. This dish represent Sabah and means you have been here!

I rated 10/10!
Where can I find good food with cheap price? Is here! Not just about the price is cheap but the taste of the food is delicious especially the soup and the fresh tender meat.

Hope you like my review and hope you can imagine the place and the how tasty is the foods from my post.

See you in my next review!

I agree with you, Sang Nyuk Mee is one of my favourite dish. I never knew that it actually originated from this shop, I would surely give this a try as I have never tried their's before. Thank you for sharing this.

Hi @beverlyjoe. Compared with few others, I prefer this original Sang Nyuk Mee. Give your comment after you have tried!
