House of Raminten Jogja: a Javanese restaurant with an eccentric concept
Visiting Jogja is only complete if you visit the House of Raminten Jogja, an eccentric restaurant and quite eccentric with a very thick Javanese atmosphere.
House of Raminten is very easy to recognize because of a very large and quite unique banner in front of this restaurant, which is a picture of a mother wearing Javanese clothing and dressings, and not forgetting the black condes that are usually used when there are traditional events.
Restaurant-style street food and drinks
The food and beverage menu offered at the House of Raminten takes a lot of sidewalk menus like angkringan, which is nicely packaged and given a little touch so that it looks more elegant, of course with very friendly prices for bags. One of the visitors' favorite menus is Cat Rice or Sego Kucing Javanese Language, which can be ordered with the terms "pakte" and "aunt". Both terms are often used in many places of eating in Jogja which means "use eggs" and "without eggseggs.
For Sego Kucing Tante, it only costs IDR 1,000. Very cheap, right? Whereas for Sego Kucing Pakte Double, consists of two rice served with side dishes such as anchovy, sambal terasi, and dried tempeh, then given an omelet as an additional side dish. Sego Kucing Pakte Double is priced at IDR 5,000.
The difference with Sego Kucing which is presented in angkringan lies in the concept of presentation. If in angkringan you enjoy Sego Kucing which is in the form of rice wrap and covered with newspaper, here Sego Kucing is served on a square plate with side dishes arranged around rice. You can enjoy Sego Kucing which is identical with this lower class food in a more elegant way.
Besides Sego Kucing, various other rice menus that you can choose are Sego Liwet, Sego Gudeg, Maheso Selo Gromo, and Sego Goreng. Sego Liwet is also a favorite menu because of its delicious taste at very cheap prices. This typical Solo food consists of savory rice mixed with shredded chicken dishes, eggs, jipan vegetables and typical chili sauce. You only need to spend IDR 5,000 to enjoy this menu. Unfortunately, Sego Liwet is often so crowded and this menu is selling well.
Meanwhile, various side dishes offered at the House of Raminten include Raminten Pecel, Javanese Noodles, Koteka Chicken, Pacikeran Egg Tempe, Garang Asem, and Lele Mangut. One of the favorite side dishes in this place is Chicken Koteka.
Basically, Koteka Chicken is made from pieces of chicken meat and eggs that are placed in a bamboo container, then baked and served with green chili sauce. This Koteka Chicken Menu has a taste that is quite savory so that it fits into an additional side dish to accompany the rice menu that you have ordered. You can enjoy Koteka Chicken for IDR 15,000.
