Mie Caluek Lapangan
Meureudu City is famous for various types of local culinary which are famous throughout Aceh and parts of Sumatra. Many native people who return home from overseas or abroad will hunt for this food, they long for this special food.
According to my knowledge and the results of talking with parents who have long settled in Meureudu, Mie Caluek is a typical food of Pidie (Formerly Meureudu is part of Pidie Regency). In other areas, especially in Banda Aceh which sells Mie Caluek, of course people from Pidie.
Caluek noodles are street food sold on the roadside. If you go to Pidie and Pidie Jaya areas, it is quite easy to get this food. But Mie Caluek Lapangan is a primadonal in Meureudu.
Mie Caluek Lapangan is located in the Meureudu town square, it is located in front of the Pidie Jaya Regent's Hall. Access to this place is very easy to reach. They are open from 16.00 in the afternoon until they run out, before the sun has finished, these noodles are sold out. There are two variants provided, namely Original Mie Caluek and Mie Caluek Bakwan. Both will make you addicted.
Caluek noodles are processed noodles that have been boiled and then drained, then mixed with various kinds of spices that are dominant with chili and groundnuts. Besides that, sweet potatoes and cucumber are also given. Mie Caluek Lapangan is very suitable to be eaten for all ages because the level of spiciness is still low (for Acehnese).
So, if you are passing through Meureudu in the afternoon, don't forget to stop by and taste this food.
