Letting the afternoon roll at Julie's

I have been passing by Julie's Bakeshop branches in different parts of the country. On most instances, I just buy bread for take-away as not all branches have space for eat-in option. For this particular branch at Ayala-MRT train station, they have two tables for dining in but it is usually occupied most of the time. I guess that is because if its location like a melting pot where busy people converge or rush about for work. One lazy Saturday afternoon, I noticed the tables were free. I decided to take a break.

The bakeshop is stationed right beside a Land Transportation Office where driving licenses can be renewed

As I approached the store, more customers came to join me looking through the glass displays of bread.

There was no label of the breads in these trays and I couldn't place them. The one on the upper left corner look like ensaymada except for the shape. The one to the right and below seem like the same on the left but with a twist. I was not sure if the one on the lower right was loaf.

Then to the left of the glass panel was this ube (purple yam) roll. For some reasons and with many other options (even cheaper), this caught my attention. I ordered for two pieces.

I took a seat while waiting for my order. That was when I noticed the bakery right next to the dining area because the door has see-through glass. By the door were shelves of breads. Througj those shelves I watched how the bakers carefully work on their "crafts."

When the crew called out, I was surprised that my order was already in take-away paper bag. I looked at the other customers and it was the same. One of them actually came to join me on the table and she was also carrying her paper bag. I guess that was people are rushing about so with the paper bag, they run any time and be on the go.

I opened the bag to see what seem like literal rolls coming toward me.

I tore the paper bag and spread it wide to serve as plate. I asked if they have bottled ice tea but no. They have softdrinks and water only. I had a bottle of water.

It was a lazy afternoon and not much customers were coming into the bakeshop so I took the time with my afternoon merienda.With just P10.00 or US $ 0.20, I had a full afternoon snack. Isn't that cool to savor? 😊

When I was done, the bakeshop has now more customers on the other table.

It was amusing to see the bakeshop this quiet when I saw it busy most of the time. It has a very strategic location to capture rushing workforce and be there to serve food for the people on the run.
