Palabok at Tropical Hut

It wa almost dinner time so it was not surprising that there were queues in the food court. It was not really long queues but the queue was shorter in this Tropical Hut store so I fell in line.

Tropical Hut is one of the Filipino quick service restaurants which was first known for their hamburgers.

Tropical Hut Food Market, Inc. was founded in 1965. The company's line of business includes the retail sale of prepared foods and drinks for on-premise consumption.

I thought of not having rice meal this time so I picked palabok from the noodles dish.

Pancit Palabok is a delicious Filipino noodle dish topped with shrimp gravy, shrimp, smoked fish flakes, pork cracklings, and eggs.

While waiting in queue, I noticed these displays on the counter. The chicken boxes seem new to me. It looks like they are also having this gimmick of ready-to-go offers. And the sili burger... Sili is chili. Who would want a spicy hamburger?

There were also these brochures for their Valentine's Day promo. Hashtag couplegoals? 😄

At the back of the counter is this wide tarpaulin featuring their fresh salad. I tried this in other branch and it was good. It was just that it's very light and not recommended for full meal. Well, maybe for someone with happy tummy like me.

During my previous dining in this food court, it has been a challenge to find a vacant table. Not this time. I went to the dining area to find a vacant table and thought of leaving my umbrella on top to signify that it is taken. However, there were many vacant tables. No need for reservation.

I went back to the counter dor my order because it is self-service. When my order was served on a tray, I took it and found a table.

If you are wondering about the green circle on the plate, that is calamansi. I am not sure in other countries but calamansi juice is a common savor for most noodle dishes in the Philippines.

The egg slice seem thin this time. I thought I had thicker ones in other branches.

The plain, and so white, palabok noodles may seem bland at first. The shrimp gravy and other toppings will make the dish more tasty when mixed. I just wished there were more topping specially the shrimp.

The evening was getting darker but the food court was still not full. It was not a common sight during a weekend because many would usually spend their time out in malls. Maybe people are wiser now and spending more time at home.

Howdy macoolette! That spicy burger is a curltural thing, over here they are very popular and we have many different types of very spicy and hot burgers.
What do you mean by "happy tummy." Mine is only happy if it is stuffed full. lol.

I am not picky with foods except spicy ones so I call myself happy eater with happy tummy. Yes, it has to be full. 😂

Oh okay! Me too, I have a happy tummy also! lol. Almost any food makes me happy!

Good review! I love noodles, too. But I haven't seen your dish before. It looks delicious.

I also like their idea for the "Valentine's Day promo".

Thanks too for droppung by my post and for your compliments. I believe there are Filipino communities there in Thailand. Maybe you can find them and try our local dishes. 😊
