Original Filipino bagnet at Balay Ilocos
"Balay" means house in Ilokano which is the dialect of people in the Ilocos region.

Bagnet is an original Ilocano version of chicharon and is used in different Ilocano dishes. This time, let us have it plain at Balay Ilocos.
The digital menu on the monitors overhead are eye-catching and tempting.
It is a bit hard to choose but I tried bagnet long time ago already. I guess it is time to have one again. That bagnet meal will be great.
Super tipid meals are also available. "Tipid" means cost saving. I am not sure how these became cost savers because the prices are obviously higher. I would take it that the serving is bigger thus cost saver if shared with others.
While waiting I noticed this poster on the counter. It is the same as one of those rotating still images on the screen overhead. Bagnet meal looks more tempting when it is nearer. And yes, it is the cheapest among the bagnet options.
Here comes the bagnet meal. And surprise! It comes with free soup. That is given for some restaurants but I was not expecting it here
With the price of P129.00 (US$ 2.49), it was a good meal with tasty bagnet, sunny-side-up egg and crunchy cucumber cuts.
That bagnet sinigang sounds apetizing for next visit...
