Coffee by the Campeche Cathedral in Casa Vieja del Rio. #Priceless view
Casa Vieja del Rio is placed in a colonial building facing the main square of Campeche in the historical center with the best view of the city, good kitchen and the best margaritas.
We sat at a table on the balcony overlooking the main square and the cathedral, giving us some great views. We dropped in just to have a cup of coffee, some coctails and we were absolutely delighted by the place. Drinks were well made and ice cold.
As the name suggests, the restaurant is furnished as an old house ("casa vieja"). So if you are sitting inside, this place is decorated "wild". Walls in brightly painted blue, lila/pink, crammed with great photos and paintings on the walls.
The menu displays a rich sampling of Mexican dishes including coconut shrimps for a very reasonable prices.
Pleasant staff, excellent cuisine and a romantic view of the central square - you couldn´t ask for more. Glad to had a chance to visit this amazing place during our exploration of San Francisco de Campeche.
If you're looking for a place where you can sit and enjoy the Plaza while having a drink this is your spot. The view is to die for!

Very nice views. I would love to sit here and have a few drinks. It definitely does look like an old house. Very original décor. Interesting wall paint colors too. It doesn't look particularly busy for somewhere with such a scenic view but maybe it wasn't a busy time of day. Did you have to pay more for the drinks to compensate for that view?
If you're looking for a place where you can sit and enjoy the Plaza while having a drink this is ideal!
