Calajo at Marcos Highway - Baguio City

We went back to Calajo Restaurant at their Marcos Highway branch for breakfast. I have not been here for more or less four months. I already posted a review before. This is my third time to visit this place. I lile the ambiance here and the view and freshness of cool air in the morning especially now that it is the cold months so what better way than to start it with coffee.

I ahve to say again: The smell and taste of Benguet arabica coffee just sets me home. This is one thing I like about Calajo for almost everything is from local products, local produce or from nearby towns and provinces. I like my coffee black and I like it strong.

We ordered our favorites but added one dish we haven't tried before. I don't feel adventurous that day so I settled for their laing or taro dish with slices of pork. The shredded leaves of taro were too creamy for me and a bit salty. There is a tang of spiciness which I like.

We ordered their green curry chicken and tofu with shrimp. Along with those, we again ordered red rice.

Their chicken in green curry has that spiciness and creaminess combined that I loved the first time. The tofu is cooked the way I liked it, hard outside but soft inside. The sauce and the herbs they sprinkled also compliment each other.

This time, the addition of the laing or taro to the chicken green curry was just too much creaminess. I will make a mental note not to order those together again. Also, service was a bit slower this time necause they have lots of customers that day. Business is doing good.
