Lovely Local Breakfast Spot in Penang
This is one of the best spot to have breakfast if you are around Penang and searching for breakfast at around 6am. When I was working in Penang, I used to drop by here for breakfast at around 7am plus and had a good time there, reading news and enjoying the warm local coffee with maybe toast or some local dishes. It will get a lot more crowded when it is around 7.30am which you could hardly find a table for yourself and you need to share table with others if possible.
Scene around 6.30am
the oyster porridge
There are lots of food I loved there like the Jawa Mee that I ordered, the oyster porridge, wantan mee, curry mee and also their toast. Haha, basically all of the stalls serve good local food. The drinks also served in a traditional and local manner whereby you would order from the waiter uncle or waitress aunty who then will shout back to the counter so that they could prepare your drinks. Usually in restaurant, they would have a note, jotting down what you had ordered and go back to the kitchen and prepare accordingly. This does not apply in local kopitiam culture. Also, they have amazing memory to remember which drinks to serve on which table, to me it is like super memory genius.
My jawa mee, love the gravy
Most importantly, a glass of warm coffee, kopi c jia som in hokkien, meaning coffee with skimmed milk less sugar and served warm.
