Chaayos review - great place for tea, snacks and chit-chat
I called up my friend on Saturday, someone whom I hadn't met in a long time, to exchange updates about each other's life. We both love tea so we decided to meet at Chaayos - they experiment with tea and the results are phenomenal. As a nation obsessed with tea so much so that the prime minister ran a chai pe charcha (talk while drinking tea) campaign during his election campaign, meeting friends to gossip and enjoy this hot beverage is quite common.
We decided to go to Chaayos, in Hiranandani, Powai. Chaayos is a local chain of tea cafes. The restaurant has a very cool vibe, colourful chairs and a very mordern hipster decor.
Let's take a look at the menu -
The menu is quite interesting, has a whole variety of teas and local snacking food. What i like the most is the ability to customise my tea based on how long i want it brewed, how much milk i want and what spice I want in it.
I hadn't had lunch so I ordered a chillie cheese toast, a banana walnut cake and two custom teas (long brewed and with ginger, cardamom and Indian Basil).
The food looked awesome -
Tea was perfectly brewed, toast was good multigrain bread with loads of cheese and mildly hot chillies. The banana walnet cake was vegetarian, so eggless and I don't like that, replacing the egg with oil ruins any cake imo. This was no different.
The tea was perfect, just how both my friend and I like it. It is already mildly sweet so no need to add any sugar. The spice we added isn't very strong so adds great taste and zing to the tea.
We sat for 2 hours, enjoyed the food and tea, exchanged ideas, discussed work, life in general, went for a walk and came back for another round of tea.
Great place if you're looking to hang out with friends and want a decent cafe that serves great tea.

Chaayos is nice place and they have good variety of tea but I think their prices are high. Though tea taste is nice. ☕
I know, i won't go there everyday. For that i prefer local tapri. This was more for lunch with tea, and place to sit for a while, and it is better than Starbucks
