Recently I went to Ola Restaurant in Orange, Connecticut with @nicollefiallo for dinner. It's a local restaurant serving up Latin cuisine. Back to the food...

Ostras Frescas

We got things started with an order of a half-dozen fresh oysters.

They were good oysters served with some lemon wedges and a bowl of cocktail sauce. Ola's cocktail sauce was much like a salsa, and I really liked it. A great way to compliment the fresh raw oysters. As you can see by @nicollefiallo's recent post, she is absolutely obsessed with oysters, which is great because I love them too, but it sure sucks for my wallet.

Arepas de Cerdo

As an appetizer for my meal, I ordered the Arepas de Cerdo. Arepas are Venezuelan/Colombian corn cakes which were topped with seasoned pulled pork, pickled red onion and some radish. Although the concept was great, they seemed to be a bit dry and lacking flavor, but I am no arepa expert.

Tacos de Bacalao

For a meal I ordered the Tacos de Bacalao, otherwise known as fish tacos. These were on the appetizer menu. It came with two tacos filled with tempura fried crispy cod, topped with avocado mango salsa and cilantro aioli. These were actually really awesome. I could tell the fish was fresh and the toppings were tasty.

Paella

For dinner @nicollefiallo ordered the Paella. It was a bowl filled with shrimp, mussels, clams, saffron rice, bay scallops, fish of the day, chorizo, sweet corn, saffron, braised tomato and roasted garlic. As you can see by the picture below, it was a beautifully displayed dish. It wasn't like the traditional Paella served in a pan, but it sure was good looking.

Dulce de Leche Cheesecake

To end the meal I ordered a slice of Dulce de Leche Cheesecake. It was served with fresh raspberries, whipped cream and mint leaves. This was a perfect ending to a great meal. The dulce de leche caramel sauce was a great compliment to the delicious cheesecake.

Overall, I had a good meal... and to make things even better, I earned some bitcoin while eating it! I definitely will be back again soon!
