Over the weekend I took a trip up to Cape Cod with my family and my girlfriend. There's not a better place to enjoy a summer weekend in New England. From the breathtaking Cape Cod National Sea Shore to the delicious seafood restaurants, Cape Cod is the place to be. On Sunday after spending the day at Marconi Beach, @nicollefiallo and I decided to venture up to P-Town for lunch. We stopped at The Squealing Pig which is a beach-side pub serving up a mix of seafood and pub-fare.
Happy Hour at The Squealing Pig went from 2pm to 4pm which was perfect because we arrived right at 2. We started by ordering a dozen Wellfleet Oysters served with cocktail sauce. The oysters were only $1 each as a Happy Hour special, and they were fresh and delicious. Caught just a short drive away in Wellfleet Bay. After the first round of oysters we ordered another 12. Ten were served with cocktail sauce and the other two were served 'Asian Style', topped with pickled ginger, wasabi & soy sauce. The 'Asian Style' were super spicy, but had a good flavor. In the photo above you can see @nicollefiallo digging in to Oyster #1.
After we put a hit on the Wellfleet Oyster population, we decided to order a meal. I got the Provincetown Lobster Roll served with bacon and light mayo on a brioche roll. It came with a side of french fries. This was the first time I ever got a lobster roll that was topped with bacon. At first I was a little weary, but then I remembered the golden rule of food: Everything is better with bacon. And so it was. Overall it wasn't the greatest lobster roll of my life, but it certainly was phenomenal (but so are most lobster rolls, because they are lobster rolls). The Squealing Pig was a great place to stop for lunch while in P-Town. The $1 Wellfleet Oysters for Happy Hour are an unbeatable deal. I could go for another round right now...
