Creamy omelet: a unique experience in Chiang Mai

Some scrambled eggs fried in a pan. Omelet is just a simple thing, right? Well, not in Asia! It’s impressive how such a simple dish has so many varieties of preparation here. After the tornado omelet in Korea, I still keep looking for different ways to prepare an omelet. And in Thailand, I found a nice restaurant which they specialty is mixing traditional Thai dishes with a creamy omelet. I’m a big fan of a soft yolk, so I cannot hide that I become a fan of Pad Sen Benja very quickly!

Pad Sen Benja: simple but incredible!

The big specialty of Pad Sen Benja is traditional Thai dishes with the big star: the creamy omelet. They also have options on the menu without the creamy omelet, but please, don’t miss that.

The restaurant is really cozy, nice and a great place for lunch or dinner! It’s also super affordable. The prices are around 65-80 bahts (US$ 2,00 - 3,00), so, yeap, really worth the experience.

Pad kra pao and creamy omelet

If you read my posts here on tasteem, you probably know that one of my favorite Thai dishes id the pad kra pao, or stir fry with basil leaves. I like pork or chicken, both are really amazing.

Traditionally, pad kra pao is served with a fried egg, soft yolk. So, the combination of the creamy omelet was just perfect.

I also recommend you to try Tom Yum. This is a traditional soup made with chicken or seafood, a lot of galangals (a type of Thai ginger) and lemongrass. It’s really delicious and spicy! A must try….

Despite it’s a soup, they serve with rice and the creamy omelet which makes a kind of protection for the broth and the rice. Amazing, creative and unique!

If you’re in Chiang Mai, don’t miss the opportunity to try the creamy omelet at Pad Sen Benja!
