Fish Burger Street Food - Hot Burger Malaysia
Welcome to Hot Burger, Wangsa Maju Kuala Lumpur, which resides in the strip mall next to Metroview Condo. The stall is permanently outside the doors of the KK Convenience store, and you cannot miss it.
Hot Burger Malaysia Sdn Bhd was established as a street burger brand in 2012. Hot Burger franchises stalls to entrepreneurs, and has 120 of them in Malaysia. I am very glad the Hot Burger, Wangsa Maju is so close.
Hot Burger is a competitor to the Ramly Burger stalls. I also have one of those stalls just as close, and I have reviewed it for Tasteem in the past, if you also want to drool over that post.
The two places are a bit similar, but differences are in ingredients, preparation and taste. I love them both, and have to hold myself back from eating this food too often.
The menu on the back of the Hot Burger cart gives you an idea of the delicious food to come.
It is easier for me to decide from their laminated menu. Beef and sausage are up top, with the "Special" meats below. The Marina Burger I will order is fish filet, and look what else!
- Ostrich
- Deer
- Rabbit
- Mutton (Lamb)
I will surely be making my way through those choices in the weeks and months to come.
In this place the Auntie-In-Charge speaks perfect English and told me they do have all these meats in stock. This is with the exception of the rabbit which comes and goes from her supply. This is her worse seller as, "Malaysians often think of rabbits as pets."
She said she always has ostrich and that it tastes a bit minty! If you know the mint flavor is coming, its good. If you do not - it tastes strange. Now I really want to get the ostrich next time.
These two ladies cooking do not stop, and are working fast most times I pass by.
Some food is already grilling as I try to catch the action. The metal implements are for the eggs behind. At this stall they cook eggs in a circle or rectangle instead of wrapping a thin layer around your protein in other places I have eaten similar food.
Have I told you how much more flavorful eggs are in Malaysia, and all of SE Asia, compared to what I was used to in the US? Eggs here are a delicious revelation to me now as I eat at least a few each week.
Condiment, spices, and a bread rack are next to the grill and you can see the sign from my first photo behind the glass. This is it aside from a table where you pay for your food. You can sit and eat there if you like, but I will be taking my food home.
The grill is to the left in this shot, and they did not mind if I got in close. But they were not going to slow down for me. I was not next after this order was done, and they had lots of cooking to do.
Even so, my food was ready and packaged after I made a short trip for supplies at the KK store behind.
Check out that pineapple slice. Don't knock it until you try it. I'm hooked!
Veggies, fruit, sauces, and bun are almost complete. It will taste even more delicious than it looks.
Now I am back to my keyboard with treasure!
Look how nicely my sandwich is wrapped. Despite the cartoon, no pizza as available, here or anywhere near me.
Origami! I should have shot a step by step unpacking series of photos, but the aroma was making me rush.
This view does not indicate what I am about to get into here.
Getting closer but still not giving you the complete idea. This view is making me hungry to look.
See all the layers when I cut my sandwich in half. The bread is squished but not soggy somehow. The fish turned out to be quite good, with fish flavor, but not overwhelming.
The sandwich as a whole is overwhelming though. I am about to make big enjoyable mess!
The veggies are crisp and I am so happy with how small they are. The pineapple is on top of the fish, with the yummy egg a bit soft cooked.
And let's just see all those lovely layers a little bit closer.
After this, I tore into my sandwich like a wild animal and got it all messy. I think when I get the ostrich, I will try to cut it into four pieces before starting in.
All thumbs up for another wonderful Malaysian meal.
