"Chinaloa" a Chinese/Mexican restaurant.

Chinese cuisine has spread, combined and mutated just about everywhere. And México is not an exception. That’s why today I want to introduce “Chinaloa” an interesting fusion restaurant between Chinese cuisine and the cuisine of one of the Mexican States called Sinaloa.

Chinaloa = China + Sinaloa

Sinaloa’s cuisine is fish based and that’s a contrast compared to Chinese cuisine that is traditionally exported to the world. That almost does not contain fish. I’m sure that they have some fish plates but it’s not what you usually find in Chinese restaurants.

The restaurant has a very Chinese atmosphere and it is combined with some very subtle Mexican touches. Like the tables, chairs and some clay items on the table.

To be more accurate the fusion here is more like the American version of Chinese cuisine plus some Mexican stuff. That’s why we have Chop Suey, rice, noodles, crispy orange chicken and some other classics.

Here’s the menu, the design reminds me some of the Asian menus I’ve seen here in Tasteem, not exactly Chinese but it is kind of what I’ve seen here.

As a first place we had an Aguachile de Pescado. It is fine cubes or raw fish (kind of a poorly cut sashimi) with a lot of lemon, tomatoes, coriander, onions, spices and Mexican green pepper. This is not very chinsese, it’s more like a Sinaloa thing.

The next two plates are, as far as I know very Chinese. First we have the noodles with vegetables and shrimp.

Next you’ll find a classic of Chinese cuisine, at least for our version that might not be accurate, this is Sweet and sour chicken.

At the end I enjoyed the food but the concept it´s a little weird, even for me. The menu feels more like half Chinese and half Sinaloa cuisine instead of a fusion that could be very interesting. But the place it´s ok.

Saludos!!

yes we have a lot of asian cuisines in here in Mexico including: Japanese, Korean, Indian and Thai but all of them have a little Mexican twist.

Very interesting dishes that you have introduced. I am Chinese and you are right, it's not exactly how you will see over Asia's Chinese restaurants, but as long as you guys like the taste, why not!! LOL

Thanks for sharing this, it looks really tasty 😋👍🏼
