Penang Mainland Prawn Noodle Is Equally Good

First of all, why don't I put the shop layout as my introductory? It's because this is one of the best prawn noodle I ever had so far. Best of all, it's not in the Penang Island as in my subject title. If you're thinking all the good food is in the island, then you're dead wrong. There's so much of gooding foodie in mainland.
Me and ex-girlfriend woke up around 9am and decided to checkout immediately. So we packed our luggage and start Googling for near by breakfast, and this is one that is near to our hotel. We didn't put much hope on it, because we're in a hurry to rush to Bukit Mertajam for the mass celebration. The moment I saw the restaurant layout, it's way too modern to be "tasty". You know, we're so used to commercialized kind of retro outlet, with so many antiques around and make the shop as old as possible, but not this one. It's a very practical shop, enough fans, enough table and seats, enough ventilation, minimum kitchen space, maximum customer occupancy. And despite it's Sunday morning, it's full house. What surprise me is, this is some REAL local restaurant. See the clothing these people are wearing, clearly they're having their "ordinary" Sunday breakfast here!
Price is ofcourse not as cheap as those in Gu Kan Tang, but they're reasonable and every item are listed in detail. Their staff is very attentive. We waited at the door step a very shortwhile, and we can see the crowd are really local fellas. They do not stay back and take photo(other than myself). Very quickly they turned around few tables and we found a place to sit in comfortably. The staff who attended us helped us order food very quickly. We ordered prawn noodles with added roast pork.
I ordered iced coffee, in here they call it "kopi bing". Kopi is coffee, bing is ice. This is not Ipoh, do not expect the creamy taste from the coffee. Do not expect low acidic taste. From what I can taste, the coffee bean has been heavily caramelized and roasted with high heat. Texture of the coffee is somewhat dilute, but fruity and has a mild burnt smell. I can't deny this, many years ago before Ipoh White Coffee become famous, I can still taste this kind of coffee. It's not perfect, it's not the best, but this is some taste that will bring back memory. Absolutely love it.
Do you know why in Penang they always like to give extra chili paste on the table? Scope how much you need, pour them in your noodle. But not forget to scope one more extra spoonful, and dip your roast pork on the chili paste and eat it. You will not regret this.
It's so nice and so tasty that I almost going to drink the soup. Unfortunately, this is not a leisure food explore trip, this is more of a religious trip. We still need to trail the St. Anne hill after breakfast, I should refrain from taking too much spicy soup, or I'm going to have trouble later when I track up the hill.
The next time when you come to Penang, don't forget to swing by Butterworth and try this prawn noodle before you head to the island. Inland food pricing and taste wise is equally good, if not better.
