First of all, I would like to talk about Yee Sang of the Chinese New Year in Malaysia. I don't think there is any other part of the world would do this, the local Chinese uses the radish, cucumber, some seaweed, pomelo and some fried stuff, mixed and raw salmon sliced them and get them prepared in a huge dish.


And once everybody is ready, we use the pour the oil, sweet and sour sauce, and the salmon into the dish, and start mixing and shouting wishes, congratulating each others. Those who have not adopt to these local tradition would think there's something's wrong with these people. I don't personally like this dish, but it's a local Chinese tradition and I believe only happen in Malaysia because my Hong Kong friends visiting Malaysia many years ago, they got a shock by the sudden shouting. LOL


There's a bold wording at the bottom of the menu, clearly stating all meat uses are 100% halal. So our Muslims friend should feel safe to order food from here. The variety of food selection from the menu are overwhelming.


Now I remember! This was from Pahang state, which I wasn't aware they're selling their well known soy sauce here in Petaling Jaya. And Karak is one of the nearest town in Pahang, from Kuala Lumpur. Usually we can travel half an hour and we'll be in Karak already. However, nobody will drive all the way to Karak in the afternoon just for a lunch don't they? So, here we have an alternative in Petaling Jaya, the Sri Karak Restaurant.


Among Cantonese(People from the Southern China in the Canto province) knows about this egg broth in flat noodle. Preparation of the dish is separated into two different section. One being frying the flat noodle with soy sauce without it being sticky yet doesn't burn. The second session is the egg broth has to be made not too thick and not too watery. The ratio of egg and flour has to be just nice. If too early or too late, you'll either get a very watery egg broth but the egg already overcooked and harded, or you'll get very thick broth but the you couldn't see the egg white in the transparent broth. Trust me, if you force that failed broth and I can almost guarantee you'll puke. Note that this place has choices of normal chicken meat, deer meat or seafood variant.


Tradition of Chinese is, rice is a must on all dining occasions. Soon as this dish came to us, the salty soy sauce smell, mixing the rice fragrant squeezing into our nose. I do not need to put it inside my mouth, immediately I can tell this plate of fried rice is going to very super tasty. Here, take a look at the amount of shrimps.


This was highly recommended by the floor manager, but I beg to differ. It's their signature dish, called fish head noodle soup. The soup were made of condensed milk cooking with mixed vegetables and chunks of fried fish head. Rice noodle are separated to avoid the rice noodle being soaked in the soup over time causes over absorption and result in the noodle bloating and taste horrible. That aside, the soup literally nothing too special. The fish head are adequately fried, vegetable are fresh. However, having the soup being colored this way(instead of white) doesn't make it any appealing. Moreover, it doesn't really taste that special. I had much better versions from other shops. If you ever come to this shop, you can still try it. Who knows if it suit your taste buds?


No mommy I don't want vegetable. Jokes aside, spinach is very young. Properly cooked and not being over cooked makes the vegetable remain dark green. Once again, the soy sauce is the significant of the state of Pahang. So, I believe the good taste of all these has to do with the soy sauce.


Last but not least, there are still many other different dishes. And if you're a durian lover, Pahang is the state where the best Durian were produced. Next week, I think I'm going to come back and try the curry noodle all by myself. Do let me know if you're coming over, let's share the bill and order more food to try out different variety.
