Somloi Galuska - Hungarian traditional dessert in Sutizz
Yesterday I had the chance to buy a very traditional Hungarian dessert named Somloi Galuska in a confectionary named Sutizz, not far from the main highway leading towards the center of Budapest as you come from Vienna or Lake Balaton.
Sutizz in itself is a very nice confectionary with some great cakes, and yesterday, I bought the Somloi Galuska.
As you can see, it is made and served in a container, making it easy to bring along, or eat on the spot.
Outside the confectionary you can find a large parking lot, so it is reasonably easy to park your car if you just want to eat some cake before you continue your trip.
Some people call the Somloi Galuska the Hungarian Trifle, and it is a cake that consists of chocolate, vanilla, and ground walnuts. It has cream on top, and normally chocolate sauce floating around, and it has a minor coffee taste (normally).
It isn't my personal favorite, but still - if you want to taste this very traditional sweet in Hungary, Sutizz is one of the nicest places to do so. A portion, like you can see on the picture above, will cost you appx. 2 Euro or 670 HUF.
I will return and write a more general review of the confectionary later, but since this is such a popular and favorite dessert of many people in Hungary, I thought it deserved an article on its own!
