Cheap gyros/kebab at Blaha Lujza square in Budapest
After work I often stop by small restaurants to eat a gyros/kebab in Budapest. It is fast, it is cheap, and it is very tasty. Recently, I stopped at the Blaha Lujza square to test a gyros shop I have seen many times, but never visited. The name of the place is Babam Döner Gyros, and it is a small restaurant with a few sitting places, but that works perfectly still as you only stay in the restaurant for 10-15 minutes to eat the gyros and then move on to your next destination quickly.
The price of a gyros is around 600 Fornt (2 Euro), and for this you will get a gyros looking like the one on the picture beneath.
If you add a drink to the meal, like I did, the price will still be beneath 3 Euro. That is very nice. But, what was the gyros actually like? Is it worth testing and eating?
It isn't the best gyros I have ever eaten, but it for sure isn't the worst either. To be honest, this was a completely average gyros, perfectly capable of stopping my stomach from aching for more food, without giving me a gastronomical aha experience. However, considering the price and its very nice location at Blaha Lujza square, I believe this is ideal for those who just want to grab something to eat quickly for a very low price, before moving on to their next location somewhere in Budapest.
They do not only sell gyros in Babam Doner, they also sell some desserts and some more meals (with a more Hungarian feeling to them), so you can still visit the place if you just want a quick dessert or maybe a wiener schnitzel or something like that.
